My Story

Donna Fruehauf is the founder and President of Chest of Courage. Donna has a very strong family history of breast cancer and after testing positive for a rare genetic mutation, TP53, she decided to have a prophylactic double mastectomy in 2017. Donna was up against some battles during her healing process which resulted in her having the DIEP Flap surgery in 2019 and in 2021 the LAT Flap surgery. 

Throughout the years Donna was able to collect valuable healing advice from not only her wonderful medical team, but from other pink warriors she had the honor to speak with. Their brave stories, kindness, advice and support helped Donna to not only heal, but also motivated her to want to give back and help others.

Donna started creating and distributing the pre-op care packages in October 2021. Since they were so well received by the patients, Chest of Courage was created and founded in 2022.

Being able to give back and help others always brings a smile to Donna’s face. Please consider donating to help her further her mission to reach as many women possible with one pre-op care package at a time.
